Still busy getting settled in our new home in Summerland, and taking time to enjoy some of the local activities, including polo at the Santa Barbara Polo Club, just down the road. Several weekends ago we attended the Assistance League of Southern California fundraiser there, benefitting the children of the Learning Center for Young Children.
Ambassador and Mrs. Glen Holden were sponsors. (Now here comes one of those small world stories). Marcia, my wife, was in management at The Holden Group, during which time Glen was named Ambassador to Jamaica by President George Bush in 1989.
It has been nice reconnecting with the Holdens who have been prominent figures in the international polo community for decades. And we are enjoying learning the game, appreciating the skill and beauty in this glorious setting. This past weekend we were at the final match of the Pacific Coast Open, ending this year’s season.
